IPL 2027 Schedule & Teams

The BCCI hasn't released an official IPL 2027 calendar as of this writing. That said, every edition since the tournament settled into its current rhythm has opened in the back half of March and wrapped up with the final in late May, give or take a week either side depending on where the ICC calendar and any overlapping World Cup windows fall that year.

If that pattern holds, expect the opening match in the last week of March 2027, roughly nine weeks of league cricket, then a playoff week before the final. We'll update this page with exact dates the moment the BCCI confirms them, so there's no reason to trust a screenshot of a "leaked schedule" going around a WhatsApp group instead.

IPL cricket runs on a double round-robin league stage: all 10 teams play each other twice, once at home and once away, for 18 games apiece. That adds up to 74 league matches across the whole competition before the playoffs even start.

• Top 4 teams on the points table after the league stage advance to the playoffs
• Qualifier 1 — 1st place vs 2nd place, winner goes straight to the final
• Eliminator — 3rd place vs 4th place, loser is out of the tournament
• Qualifier 2 — loser of Qualifier 1 vs winner of the Eliminator, for the second final spot
• Final — a single match decides the IPL 2027 champion

Net run rate is the usual tiebreaker when two or more teams finish level on points, so it's worth tracking even in matches that don't look decisive on the surface.

Barring a surprise franchise change from the BCCI, these are the 10 teams that have anchored the IPL for the past several seasons and are expected to field squads again in 2027:
